The battery module detection circuit receives a detection signal of a battery module and generates a battery type determination signal and a deep discharge detection signal based on the detection signal. The microcontroller controls the charge and discharge controller to perform a charging operation or a discharging operation on the battery module. When the microcontroller determines that the battery module is a first battery type based on the battery type determination signal, the microcontroller controls the charge and discharge controller to perform a deep discharge protection function based on the deep discharge detection signal. When the microcontroller determines that the battery module is a second battery type based on the battery type determination signal, the microcontroller controls the charge and discharge controller to stop the deep discharge protection function.",
