A turbocharger 16 which includes, in an exhaust passage 14, a turbine 16a driven by the exhaust energy of an internal combustion engine 10 is provided. In the exhaust passage 14, a first front stage catalyst 18 and a second front stage catalyst 20 are provided in series in order from the upstream side. A first exhaust bypass passage 24 which bypasses the turbine 16a and a second exhaust bypass passage 26 which bypasses the turbine 16a and the first front stage catalyst 18 are provided. A first waste gate valve 28 and a second waste gate valve 30 are provided which play roles in opening and closing the first exhaust bypass passage 24 and the second exhaust bypass passage 26, respectively",
