Tire having tread with an internal softer transition rubber layer containing short fiber reinforcement

The invention relates to a tire having a tread comprising a circumferential outer tread cap rubber layer (1) and a transition rubber layer (2) underlying the outer tread cap rubber layer (1); wherein the rubber composition of the transition rubber layer (2) comprises: (A) a blend of natural rubber, cis 1,4-polybutadiene rubber and styrene/butadiene copolymer rubber; (B) of from 0 phr up to 30 phr of a reinforcing filler comprising: (1) a rubber reinforcing carbon black, or (2) silica, or (3) a combination of rubber reinforcing carbon black and silica; and wherein the transition rubber layer (2) contains a dispersion of 0.25 to 10 phr of fibrillated fiber aramid pulp.
