The deactivation system comprises a display 14, a user input device 13, and a restraint system controller 12. The restraint system controller 12 is arranged to generate a menu of options 14m that is presented to the user via the display 14, and to control the status of the deployable occupant restraint 5 in dependence on a selection made by the driver via the input device 13.
