The lighting device (1) has a light module (2) with a main source of light (3) for producing a main light distribution, for e.g. high beam, low beam, fog light, side light, highway light, expressway light, curve light or reversing light. An additional source of light (11) is arranged in the light module for illuminating an adjacent field between the main light distribution and a motor vehicle.
