A driving force transmission apparatus (1) includes: a propeller shaft (2) that receives driving force of an engine (102) from a front differential case (111) and transmits the driving force from a front wheel (104) side to a rear wheel (105a, 105b) side; a first driving force interruption unit (3) that connects/disconnects the propeller shaft (2) to/from the front differential case (111); a second driving force interruption unit (4) that connects/disconnects the propeller shaft (2) to/from at least one of the pair of rear wheels (105a, 105b) so that transmitted torque is variable; and an ECU (5) that controls connection and disconnection of the first and second driving force interruption unit (3,4). The ECU (5) causes the second driving force interruption unit (4) to connect/disconnect the propeller shaft (2) to/from the at least one of the pair of rear wheels (105a, 105b) before causing the first driving force interruption unit (3) to connect/disconnect the propeller shaft (2) to/from the front differential case (111).
