The processor is configured to receive the information from an external device, detect and verify lane markings based on the information, determine at least one assistance variable according to a verification result, and control an actuator in response. The vehicle includes at least one such device and may communicate with external infrastructure to enhance safety when traveling through temporarily changed lanes, such as construction zones.
