Navigational Device with Improved User Interface

The invention relate to a navigational device comprising: a housing (36) having a front face (42); a navigational device (20) enclosed within the housing (36) for receiving spread spectrum signals (18) from a source thereof, for calculating a position of the device as a function of the signals, and for providing directions to a desired location; and a display screen (28) positioned on the front face (42) of the housing (36) for displaying an indication of the position of the navigational device (20) and the directions, wherein the navigational electronics and display screen (28) are operable for displaying a main page (64) with information relating to only two selectable primary navigational functions when the navigational device is turned on.
