MISFIRE DETECTION WITH CRANKSHAFT VIBRATIONS

Methods and systems are provided for engine misfire detection. In one example, a method may include sampling crankshaft fluctuations with a first and a second sampling window, wherein the first and second windows overlapping each other; and identify misfire based on the sampled signals. The method may further comprise adjusting engine operation responsive to the misfire indication via a control unit.
