The gear (10) has a shaft (14) mounted in a gear housing (12). A brake (20) is arranged in the housing for braking the shaft. The brake includes an annular piston (22), which is axially displaceably mounted on the shaft. A brake body (62) is fastened at the housing and provided with a limited freewheel device. A spring element (84) is arranged between the body and the housing. The spring element produces restoring torque, which pushes the body against rotary movement relative to the housing in an initial position as soon as the body takes a rotational position within a freewheel.
