The rechargeable battery according to the present invention includes i) an electrode assembly (10) including a positive electrode plate (11), a negative electrode plate (12), and a separator (13) that are wound in a jelly roll shape to have a flat portion (14) and curved portions (15) disposed at both sides of the flat portion, ii) a case (20) for receiving the electrode assembly, and iii) a cap assembly (30) combined with the case to close and seal the case and that is electrically connected to the electrode assembly.
