The device (1) has a light source (10) e.g. incandescence lamp, for providing position light of a motor vehicle for an ignition time, and another light source (20) for providing stop light of the motor vehicle for another ignition time, where the latter ignition time is greater than the former ignition time. A control unit (30) receives ignition order of the light sources. The former light source emits light of increased intensity (I1) during the ignition time of the latter light source, where the increased intensity is equal or greater than nominal intensity (I2) of the latter light source.
