The tire has a tread (1), having a periphery and shoulders with flanks (5), divided into circumferential ribs (2) by at least two circumferential grooves (3). An envelope, represented by an auxiliary line (h), runs in parallel to the tread periphery and touches the lowest circumferential groove radially from the inside. The volume of all grooves formed in the tread amount to between 1 and 10 percent of the gross tread volume enclosed by the envelope, the tread periphery and the shoulders.
