"textContent": "A fuel supply control system for an internal combustion engine, which is capable of reducing the amount of generation of smoke and maintaining reduced exhaust emissions and excellent drivability, by properly controlling a fuel supply amount in accordance with conditions of the EGR operation. The fuel supply control system calculates a fuel supply amount according to detected operating conditions of the engine. To reduce the amount of generation of smoke, an upper limit value for limiting the calculated fuel supply amount is set as a smoke-reducing upper limit value. Then, when it is determined that the EGR operation is interrupted, a correction time period over which the smoke-reducing upper limit value is to be corrected is set according to the capacity of a section of an intake passage between a portion connected to an EGR passage and a combustion chamber and the calculated exhaust gas flow rate.",
