A battery cell includes a can, an electrode assembly disposed within the can, and including a first electrode plate and a second electrode plate, a terminal portion mounted on the can, a first current collector plate connected to the terminal portion and the first electrode plate, and a second current collector plate connected to the can and the second electrode plate. The first electrode plate includes a first uncoated portion bonded to the first current collector plate. The second electrode plate includes a second uncoated portion bonded to the second current collector plate. The first uncoated portion is surrounded by the second uncoated portion.
