Subframe for front axle of a motor vehicle
DRIVE
June 7, 2006
The cradle has articulations (11, 12) respectively with different stiffnesses in two directions (R, S, R, S) perpendicular to each other and to clevis pins. The directions (R, R`) are inclined at an angle (beta ) with respect to a longitudinal direction of a motor vehicle. The beta lies between alpha and alpha /2, where the alpha corresponds to an angle for which the dangling and rotation of the cradle are minimum under transversal efforts. The articulations (11, 12) are symmetrical with respect to a vertical and longitudinal symmetrical plane (P) of the cradle. The alpha can lie between 40 and 45 degrees.
