Injection valve comprises a pressure-maintaining valve (4) arranged between a feed channel (140) leading to a control valve (3) of the injection valve and a spring chamber (105). A pressure is applied to the spring chamber in the feed channel and the pressure maintained by the pressure-maintaining valve acts with a pre-tensioned spring (110) on an injection needle (170) of the injection valve. Preferred Features: The diameter of the pump piston (210) of a pump (2) supplying the injection valve with fuel is reduced to 6.0-6.5 mm, preferably 6.25 mm. The pressure-maintaining valve is arranged in the spring chamber.
