An image display apparatus has: an imaging device (L, R) that is placed at a tiltable housing (L, R) and that is configured to image a rear side area (BL_area, BR_area) of a vehicle (), the housing being allowed to rotate around a predetermined rotational axis (θL, θR) that is along a direction inclined to a yaw axis of the vehicle; and a displaying device () that is configured to display an external image captured by the imaging device.
