Vehicle roof with a longitudinally extending center console

The roof has a center console extending in a lengthwise direction of the roof. The center console has a top forming an outer surface of the roof, the center console includes a cubby hole. A transparent area extends laterally from the center and includes a top forming an outer surface of the roof. The center console is adjustable (10) in the roof high direction between a resting position and a function position. The top side of the center console in the function position lies higher than in the resting position. The cubby hole is accessible from the vehicle interior. The cubby hole is open on one of two sides, and extends over an entire width of the center console. A front end of the center console is followed by another transparent area extending over an entire width of the roof, the other transparent area includes a top forming an outer roof surface.
