The device has capacitors (6) arranged between a pulse controlled inverter (3) and an asynchronous motor (5) as a series compensation (4) in a connecting line of the motor. The capacitors (6) are bridged by a conductor in which contactors (9) are inserted. A closed loop controller has an input side connected with a tachometer, and output side connected with a final control equipment of the contactors and an output voltage controller. The voltage at the capacitors (6) is reduced to zero volts during switching movement of the contactors.
