Illumination unit for aircraft

The unit has a two dimensional light source (1) and a partial translucent screen (2). The light source is connected to the translucent screen by an attachment unit (3), where the screen partially shining. The light source is arranged behind the translucent screen and comprises an attachment area (4) with a recess (5). The screen has a recess that is filled with a transparent material e.g. plastic and glass. An independent claim is also included for an airplane comprising an illumination unit.
