Rear suspension for motor vehicles

DRIVE April 19, 2006
Source
The rear wheel suspension for motor vehicles has a semi-trailing arm (11) mounted on an auxiliary frame, and a wheel carrier (24) pivotably mounted on the semi-trailing arm. The pivot axis (34) of the wheel carrier is inclined in two planes for the purpose of achieving a desired self-steering characteristic under load for the mounted wheel. The wheel carrier is supported on the auxiliary frame of the vehicle via a track rod (38) acting at a distance from the pivot axis of the wheel carrier.
