Rear view mirror for a vehicle

The mirror unit (1) is assembled of a housing (2) and the mirror (3) inserted into an opening at the front of the housing (2). The glass (3) can be electrically adjusted as required. The new design of an exterior mirror (1) is additionally equipped with a sensor unit reacting to raindrops and transmitting the signal to a processing and evaluating device. The mirror unit (1) is automatically rotated (8, 9) into a glass protecting position with the mirror (3) pointing towards the ground when the vehicle is parked and the rain signal transmitted to the control unit.
