Airbag module

In the closed state, a section of the airbag (12) extends over the release opening (24). In this region the airbag is exposed to its interior. A device is provided to cause sectional rupture in the region of the discharge opening of the airbag, leaving the discharge opening clear. A pyrotechnic device initiated with the gas generator, may be used for the purpose. A spring and/or folding cutter are employed.
