Curtain airbag device and vehicle including such a device
DRIVE
March 22, 2006
To provide a common curtain airbag device attachable to vehicles regardless of the sizes of the vehicle bodies or the sizes and the shapes of the center pillar garnishes. A folded curtain airbag 10 is disposed along a roof side rail 5. In the upper area of a B pillar 3, a guide airbag 20 is disposed between the roof side rail 5 and the curtain airbag 10. When the guide airbag 20 expands, the curtain airbag 10 moves toward a vehicle cabin over a B pillar garnish 6. In the upper areas of the front door and the rear door, the guide airbag 20 is disposed so as to cover the top and the side face facing the cabin of the curtain airbag 10. The curtain airbag 10 is guided by the inflated guide airbag 20, and expands downward (Fig. 1).
