Method and device for regulating the drive stability of a vehicle

March 22, 2006
The method for controlling the travelling stability of a motor vehicle entails regulating slip of the driven wheels directly by control of the torque transmitted by the clutch (10) between the engine (6) and wheels of the vehicle. Locking of the wheels in the overrun is prevented by the reduction of the torque from the clutch. The RPM difference between a non-driven and driven wheel is determined and clutch torque controlled in such a way that a predetermined RPM difference is not exceeded. An independent claim is included for system for the controlling of the travelling stability of a motor vehicle in which sensors (28,30,32,34) determine the slip of at least one driven wheel, sensors determine clutch slip, and an electronic control unit (26) controls the clutch actuator (20) in order to carry out the aforesaid method.
