Split shroud exhaust nozzle

A variable geometry convergent-divergent nozzle (30) for a gas turbine engine includes a centerbody (32) extending rearward along a longitudinal axis of the engine which has a throat section of increased diameter. An inner shroud (34) surrounds the centerbody (32) and cooperates with the centerbody (32) to define the throat of the nozzle (30). An outer shroud (36) surrounds the inner shroud (34) and cooperates with the centerbody (32) to define the exit area of the nozzle (30) . Both shrouds are independently translatable to provide independent control of the nozzle throat area and the nozzle expansion ratio.
