An exhaust gas control apparatus for an internal combustion engine, including a particulate filter which is provided in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine, in a case where a filter recovery control is performed by performing sub-fuel injection into a cylinder, at least one of a performing frequency with which the filter recovery control is performed and a performing period during which the filter recovery control is performed is changed according to a degree of dilution of engine oil (S102). Thus, it is possible to perform the filter recovery control for oxidizing and removing the PM deposited in the particulate filter, while suppressing dilution of the engine oil caused by the fuel.
