The power plant (1) for a small vehicle, and especially an all-terrain vehicle, is a V-configuration internal combustion motor (2) and a gearbox (4) with the gearbox input shaft (12) and the gearbox housing (13), axially parallel to the crankshaft (7), and to one side of the motor block and mounted to it by a flange. The crankshaft and the gearbox input shaft are linked together through a continuously variable transmission (CVT) gear (3).
