Mechanical part with integrated seal

The cover component (100) for an internal combustion engine has an integrated elastic seal, whereby the cover component has an encompassing flange section for the locating of the seal. The cover component has plastic material, and the seal an organic elastomer material. The cover component and seal are chemically interconnected. The flange section is L-shaped (130) in construction, and the seal by its sealing profile is installed on the sealing face of the flange section and laterally grips over the flange section so that the seal at least partially is installed on the upper flange face. An independent claim is included for a method for the manufacture of a cover component with an integrated elastic seal, and may be a rocker cover or oil sump.
