Retractable wiper bearing in case of a shock

DRIVE January 11, 2006
Source
The bearing has a shaft mounted on a support (7). A rupture occurs between two shaft portions (52, 54) respectively between support portions (71, 73) when a force is applied on the shaft in the direction of its proximal end (53), greater than a preset threshold. The rupture occurs at lower zones (55, 75), so that the portions (54, 73) move towards the end (53), between the portions (54, 71).
