Central console for automotive vehicle

The console has a stowage box (2) with a shelf (3) and a functional component (4) e.g. cigarette lighter, plug socket and a coin holder, in a laterally arranged area. The shelf has a unit that is adjustable in a longitudinal direction of a vehicle. The shelf is usable as ashtrays in a rear position of the unit and as a holder for beverage container (6) in a front position of the unit.
