Connecting rod for an internal combustion engine and process for achieving a variable compression ratio

Connecting rod comprises an artificial muscle which changes its geometric shape by activation. The longitudinal change of the connecting rod is provided by a variable sealing ratio. An independent claim is also included for a process for realizing a variable sealing ratio in an I.C, engine. Preferred Features: The artificial muscle expands on activating and the connecting rod changes in length in this manner. The artificial muscle is a carbon nano-tube or a polymer gel. The artificial muscle can be electrically controlled.
