Occupant protection apparatus for vehicle

DRIVE December 28, 2005
Source
An occupant protection apparatus for a vehicle includes a first power source means (24), a collision-predicting means (11,21,22,23) for predicting a collision, and a driving means (12,13,14,16) for driving an actuation mechanism (6,9,10,15) of the vehicle on the basis of an output from the collision-predicting means. The occupant protection apparatus is characterized in that the occupant protection apparatus includes a second power source means (25) for supplying power of higher voltage than that of the first power source means and a switching means (11,26,28) for switching over from the first power source means to the second power source means for supplying power to the driving means when a collision is predicted to occur by the collision-predicting means. The first power source means (24) supplies power to the driving means upon input of an operation - inputting means (20) provided so as to be operable by an occupant.
