A method for selecting menus and/or sub-menus and/or functions within a given menu-structure for vehicle drivers by using an associated selection element, an image display screen for indicating the associated selected graphical information, and operator elements for activating and deactivating individual functions independently of the menu structure. During activation of an operator element an associated menu and/or sub-menu is automatically displayed on the screen.
