Sound absorber for compressor

The compressor includes a casing, in which is rotatably mounted a compressor wheel (1) with blades installed on a hub, a flow passage (3) defined in the blade region by the hub and the compressor casing (21), and a diffuser installed in the flow passage between the blade region and a pressure vessel on the outlet side. An absorption silencer is installed in the flow direction of the medium to be compressed downstream of the blade region and in this region at least partially defines the flow passage. An independent claim is included for an absorption silencer to reduce noise from the compressor and which has a cover plate (42) of flow-resistant material and/or a flow-resistant structure.
