Steam turbine components, method for cooling a steam turbine and their use.

The steam turbine component (40), which may be a turbine blade, has one surface (45) defining a flow passage (15) which receives the main flow (17) of a fluid working medium, and has a cooling system (19) with an opening (46) on its surface for the flow passage. The cooling system has at least one flow resistance in the form of a restrictor at a restricting point (41) and which establishes in the flow direction of the cooling medium a cooling medium pressure drop across the restricting point in such a way that at this point a lowering of temperature of the cooling medium is effective. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a method for the cooling of a steam turbine; and (B) a use for a restrictor at a restricting point as a flow resistance in the cooling system of a steam turbine.
