Energy safety notification system for electronic devices

This invention provides an apparatus and method for displaying safety information about a power source to a user. When a power source is coupled to the device, and the device is turned on, safety information is presented to the user by way of a display. The user is then able to scroll through and read the information. Once read, the user has an opportunity to either accept or reject the information. In one embodiment, if the user rejects the safety information, the device is powered down. If the user acknowledges the device, the device becomes operational. Features of the system include allowing the user to select whether the information is re-displayed, and optional polling of carriers and other third parties for additional safety information.
