Airbag for a vehicle occupant restraining system

The airbag for a motor vehicle occupant restraint has two woven fabric side panels (12,14) and multiple inflatable chambers (15). Between the side panels is at least one longitudinal connecting wall (22) defining a gas passage (24,24') to guide incoming gas into the main chambers. The connecting wall is formed from weave and has at least one overflow section (28) with a higher gas permeability.
