Control method for influencing the opening velocity of a control valve of a fuel injector

A fuel injector (FI) (3) has a control valve (CV) (27) for activating/deactivating the FI's pressure intensifier (5). The CV is designed as a directly controlled magnetic valve with its magnetic coil (38) fed by two or more triggering current levels different from each other so as to vary the opening speed of the CV's valve element (30). An independent claim is also included for a fuel injection device for triggering a fuel injector.
