A car multimedia system is provided comprising a radio unit (102); a display (22) for displaying status information (24, 26, 28) and selectable and activatable menu items (44); at least one control element (16) for selecting and activating a menu item (44); a control device (100) for driving said display (22) and controlling said control element (16). The car multimedia system further comprises means (selector means, 110) for making a status information (24, 26, 28) on the display (22) selectable and activatable by operating said control element (16), and means (performing means, 112) for performing a function in response to the activation of a status information (24, 26, 28) (Fig. 2).
