The three portions extend parallel in a longitudinal direction and have in each case a width in a transverse direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. The middle portion connects the first and second flanking portions in a transverse direction. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a weatherstrip for a motor vehicle, comprising a fastening portion strengthened by the reinforcing carrier, and at least one sealing portion; (2) a method of fabricating a weatherstrip involving surrounding the reinforcing carrier by an elastomer without the assistance of an adhesion promoter.",
