Industrial truck, in particular forklift truck
DRIVE
October 26, 2005
A suspension system for a fork lift truck has two fixed support wheels (10) under the forks, one steerable rear drive wheel (4) and one or two rear castor mounted wheels (5a, 5b) fitted with a damped suspension. The cornering stability of the truck is improved by fitting double action damping struts to the castor mountings, and with separate damping characteristics for compression and expansion. This prevents uncontrolled extension of the inside castor wheel during cornering and reduces the tipping risk of the truck. The system is suitable for both driver controlled and pedestrian controlled trucks.
