A engine control device for a construction machine of the present invention is configured so that the engine control device comprises an engine (10), a hydraulic pump (5) driven by the engine (10) serving as a power source, a hydraulic actuator (6) actuated by pressure oil discharged from the hydraulic pump (5), working state determining means (7) for determining whether the construction machine is in a working state or a non-working state, and engine control means (8) for automatically stopping the engine (10) upon the working state determining means (7) determining that the construction machine is in the non-working state, including stop history storing means (13, 14, 16) for readably storing a stop history of the engine (10) stopped by the engine control means (8).
