Seat belt system for vehicles

The safety belt system (3) has a safety belt (5), a safety belt spooling device (7), a safety belt direction changing device (9) and a seat belt width reduction device (11) arranged between the spooling device and the direction changing device. This device effects a deformation of the belt without folding and kinking.
