Vehicle seating system, in particular for aircraft

The vehicle seating system, especially for aircraft, has seat components such as a seat back (5) and sitting section, and bounded at least on one side by a console forming an armrest. An arm-like functional component (13) extends in cantilever fashion at least partially above the head of the seat's occupant and has functional elements to increase comfort. The arm-like functional component, in the form of a rigid yoke, forms an extension of the console and starting above the console extends forwards. The functional element may be cup or bottle holder (17), or handle to assist a passenger to stand up.
