Gravity is used to bias the hanging mass 1 toward the wall 8, and thus a coin travelling along the coin path 7 is deflected into the desired stable path by the mass 1 without the need for external driving forces. The pivot 2 is clear of the coin path 7 and thus avoids the majority of dirt, leading to a more reliable operation.",
