SEALING TAPE

DRIVE October 5, 2005
Source
Sealing tape containing an unvulcanized rubber-base material and a vulcanization accelerator is freely bent, used in repairing a damaged joint of car body panels, and has a thickness in a direction perpendicular to its bottom surface. A curved surface provided in the tape's upper surface has: an outer slit (5) extending parallel to the joint and having a thickness of equal to or more than half the tape's thickness; and, inner slits (3,4) in the bottom surface, the number of which slits extending parallel to the longitudinal direction of the tape and each having a thickness equal to or more than half the thickness of the tape is equal to or more than the number of metal surfaces disposed inside the body panels. The damaged joint is first repaired in shape, and covered by the tape to have the same look as that of a new joint.
