A protective element for the bodies of commercial vehicles, having, perpendicular to its main direction of extension, an inverted U-shaped cross-section and having a soft upper portion. The protective element (1) comprises a semi-rigid base element (3) with an inverted U-shaped cross-section, and a soft upper element (4) integral at least with an upper portion of the base element (3). Advantageously, the base element (3) and the upper element (4) are respectively made of semi-rigid PVC and soft PVC.
