Method and switching device for operating an ignition coil of an internal combustion vehicle

The method for the operating of an ignition coil of a motor vehicle entails determining and comparing nominal and actual values for the control voltage of the coil with regard to a course of time by using an ignition signal delivered from a control unit during an activating and/or deactivating action of the coil. In dependence upon the comparison result a regulating of the end stage that the change of the control voltage in a continuous course of time describes a constant curve with a final gradient, thereby determining the edge steepness of the activating and/or deactivating signal of the coil. An independent claim is included for a circuit for the operating of an ignition coil of a motor vehicle with a control unit for the ignition electronics.
